We begin by heading towards Austria for a trip to the Tyrol region, which is a haven for nature walks. The Otztal Valley in the west is one of the most popular destinations in the area. We will visit the Stuyven Falls, the highest waterfalls in the Tyrol region. The magnificent waterfalls are within walking distance of the village of Umhausen and epitomize nature’s full glory. Throughout the site are many charted hiking paths, an 80-meter suspended bridge and 5 observation posts from which to enjoy the falls. If Nature’s splendor hasn’t worn you out, we will complete the day with a visit to a huge shopping center for all the shopping lovers among you.
We will begin with a drive towards the Austrian border and the magical town of Samnaun. It is a Swiss town located on the border of Italy, Switzerland and Austria. We will cross the border into Austria towards the town of Ischgl using an elaborate system of five cable cars belonging to the impressive ski resort that spans these two towns, just on the border between Austria and Switzerland. From there, a beautiful road that forms part of the Silverta Pass descends to Landeck, which is a major cultural hub of the Tyrol region. It is located at an ‘intersection’ between wooded peaks and bordering the Inn River. After a tour of the town we will cross the border back to Switzerland and return to our hotel.
After traveling to the Engadine Valley, we will reach the famous town of St. Moritz, considered the most prestigious town in the world. Get on the famous Bernina Express train. It is a luxury locomotive specifically geared to visitors, and crosses no less than 196 bridges and 55 tunnels, reaching a height of 2,253 meters. Experience the panoramic ride by train and enjoy spectacular views, through the ancient forests and emerald lakes towards the majestic Alps. We will cross from the high Alps of the Swiss province of Angin down to the Italian-speaking Poschiavo Valley. Then we will continue on a slalom ride by train to the town of Posciovo where we will get back on the bus and cross the border with Italy to the town of Livigno, which is a ski resort in the winter and a huge duty free extravaganza in the summer.
Today we head west on winding roads along serpantine rivers and picturesque towns. A short drive from the area of St. Moritz will bring us to the foot of Mount Diavolezza. We will ascend in a cable car about 3,000 feet above sea level, for an impressive view of the snow-capped mountain peaks all year round. We will descend in the cable car and make our way to the ski resort of Sylvaplana from where we will visit impressive waterfalls located just above the town of Surlej. The waterfalls are referred to by locals as Cascata Da Schinellas and pour into Lake Silvaplana. Enjoy a day of valleys, cable cars, waterfalls and lakes – a day trip that showcases nature at its best.
